Insjö

Reports can be submitted to Insjö immediately after an incident has taken place.
Insjö is the marine database system for reporting incidents at sea. People working with shipping can report deficiencies and accidents that take place at sea, and they can also refer to Insjö to obtain information about risks and problems onboard.
The core of the system is the database in which incident reports are stored. All material is decoded and made anonymous before it is stored so that no shipping company, ship or individual person can be identified. The material in the database is categorised and analysed to make it easier to use by those interested.
The objective is to enable the detection and rectification of shortcomings before they lead to accidents by providing information from Insjö. Reports are generally submitted from ships and shipping offices. At the same time as information is put into the system, the person reporting is given feedback on their report with all known facts about the problem.
The system was launched in 1999 as a cooperation project between the Swedish Shipowners’ Association and the Swedish Maritime Safety Inspectorate, but it also has other support organisations. The database is administrated by IPSO Classification & Control AB (ICC).
